Abraham Lincoln’s “cannot” to the Democratic Party?

Appearing in The Dallas Morning News” was an advertisement placed by a bank named “Nexbank.”  The advertisement reported to quote President Abraham Lincoln, 16^th president of the United States – USA.  While the quote is Lincolnesque it is not from President Lincoln.  The text was written in 1916 by an American religious leader named William J. H. Boetcker (William John Henry Boetcker). 

Mr. Boetcker wrote them in his pamphlet entitled “The Ten Cannots.”  

A leaflet printed in 1942 misattributed President Lincoln for some “The Ten Cannots.”  Perhaps a misinterpretation from a Lincoln address on March 21, 1864, which President Lincoln said,

“Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.” 

Quotes appearing in the newspaper advertisement:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by destroying men's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.

You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

It is rather interesting in reading as they read the complete of the Democratic Party’s current ideology.
