Thanksgiving Day we give thanks to God

The Thanksgiving holiday in the United States is a day set aside for Americans to give thanks to God for all our blessings. So why do atheist celebrate this day or how can they?

It is a day in recognition when the Pilgrims celebrated their blessings in the New World in the early 1600's. Then in 1777 the Continental Congress issued a Thanksgiving proclamation. Here is part of that proclamation:

"FOR AS MUCH as it is the indispensable Duty of all Men to adore the superintending Providence of Almighty God; to acknowledge with Gratitude their Obligation to him for Benefits received, and to implore such farther Blessings as they stand in Need of:"

They mentioned God? Did they not know of the hallucinated establishment clause? Perhaps not as the proclamation was written ten years before the Constitutional Convention.

Then in 1789 the first president of the United States, George Washington also issued a Thanksgiving proclamation. In part:

"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor - and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me 'to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.'"

How can George Washington claim ignorance of the establishment clause when he was one of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787? Perhaps further proof the establishment clause is a hallucinated clause.

In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln also issued a Thanksgiving proclamation, in part:

"No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy."

Another president who also ignored the hallucinated establishment clause. Along with every president since President Lincoln to have issued Thanksgiving proclamations.

This video is to illustrate how God and Thanksgiving are both intertwined in this national holiday. It is a day Americans of all faiths reflect upon their blessings and give thanks to God for them. All though the political leftist have been trying to expunge any mention of God from the public square, they would be hard pressed to do so with this national holiday.
